The Malaysian Association of Indian University Graduates (MAIUG) was established in 1951.MAIUG in collaboration with Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) Malaysia is organising the MAIUG Banquet 2017 on the 21st Jan 2107 at the Renaissance Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
MAIUG has been a key player in developing the Tertiary level education especially related to Medicine, Dental and Healthcare for Malaysian students who wants to pursue their studies in India. MAIUG was also involved in the pioneering effort to offer computer based skills to lower income youth in the early days of the computer era in Malaysia. Scholarships and study loans were offered to the students through the MAIUG IT Education Fund. MAIUG was also instrumental in the development of Medical and Dental camps around the country which significantly helped many especially in the urban and rural areas. And this is on-going along with “Save a Heart” project.
Now, MAIUG in collaboration with GOPIO Malaysia has embarked on a campaign to motivate and initiate our youth to look at India for their tertiary further education, as the education system in India has been revamped to improve on the quality and further is cost effective. MAIUG wants the youth of Malaysia to take advantage of the tremendous growth of India, especially in the field of education. Malaysian students numbered more than 55,000 students In 1971 has now dwindled over the years due to several factors .We would like to reignite the interest of our youth to seek further their studies in India in all fields. India is poised to be the education hub for the Asian region.
This year’s MAIUG - GOPIO Banquet, themes “Higher Education in India” will be graced by more the 800 members and guests, diplomats, academics and NGO leaders. It will be also a gathering of professionals and their family members
